NCO Christmas Dinner 2007

For the past two years at Christmas WO Cartwright has organised and held a dining night for the NCO’s to reward them for their hard work through the year. The NCO’s are served a belly busting Christmas dinner by two waiters and a steward.

This year the chefs who prepared the lovely meal were Jennifer Bozzay and Fiona Johnson. The two waiter positions were filled by Cadet Newell and Cadet Heppenstall who’s jobs were to serve the food. The steward position was filled by Cadet Lacey who’s job was to serve the wine and to bar tend and finally ensure that all went well.

The head table seated WO Cartwright, Sergant Sutcliffe, CWO Moss and our guest SAC Adam Mills who is an ex squadron NCO. The other two tables seated cadet NCO’s Flight Sergant Ding, Corporal Grosse, Corporal Stubbs, Corporal Dawson and Corporal Jackson (f).

The meal started with a choice of home made tomato soup with croutons or a prawn cocktail dish. The main course was a choice of gammon, turkey or quorn roast served with vegetables and Yorkshire pudding topped with gravy, onion or cranberry sauce. For the final course was the choice of a hot slice of fudge cake topped with chocolate sauce and cream or a Christmas pudding also topped with cream. Throughout the meal drinks were served by the steward.

Once the meal was finished the port was passed around and the Mr Vice who was Corporal Jackson(f) this year, made a toast to the Queen and a few speeches were made to thank the chefs, waiters and the steward. Tea or coffee was then served once the speeches were finished and the NCO’s moved into the staffroom to relax.

Whilst the NCO’s were relaxing in the staffroom, the waiters were working hard to clear the dining area to make way for a few games. The first game we played was air football witch was quite hilarious and resulted in CWO Moss mopping up a large amount of water.  We also attempted to play twister, but that didn’t work out very well because we had to play in the staffroom because the other room was wet. Corporal Grosse put some tunes on and Corporal Stubbs had a bash at karaoke.

The night was a lot of fun and I would like to thank WO Cartwright for organising the dinner and the chefs and waiters for the wonderful service. I would also like to thank our guest for attending and also the other NCO which made the night a real good laugh.
