Sheffield Steelers Match
Steelers vs. Belfast Giants
We started the night by meeting at squadron for 6pm to get to the Sheffield Arena in time for the match. We set off at roughly half past 6 but found out that there was an incident on the motorway so we had to take a detour on the outskirts of Sheffield.
We arrived at the Arena with enough time for some cadets to hand out stickers to advertise the Royal Air Force, and luckily for us the RAF careers personnel were at the match with a climbing wall, shooting range and an aircraft simulator that people could go and sit in as they were sponsoring the Steelers for the weekend.
Before the start the players were on the ice warming up with their team mates. The match started at about half past 7 the Steelers played well through the first third and got one goal. There was a lot of pushing and shoving but no players were sent to the sin bin. There was a short break for people to go to the toilet and get some refreshments. The second third started and the Steelers got a man sent to the sin bin for a foul on one of the giants. They scored again and music roared through the speakers and people danced to it including myself but no other cadet would. This part of the match ended and the break startedI and McNulty and I went to the RAF Careers to have a look before the last third of the match. We got a t-shirt with the RAF logo on it.
The last third finally started and the Steelers got off to a great start scoring twice again and Chelsea dagger the song came on through the speakers and we all got up and danced and had the spotlight shone on us all. We thoroughly enjoyed that part. As the match came to a close the Steelers awarded the man of the match his award and we set of back home to squadron we all enjoyed the great night out and would definitely go again soon.
