Cadets find out about Mountain Rescue - 26th October
MRT LogoCadets from the Squadron got the opportunity to spend time with the local Mountain Rescue Team at the beginning of October. The day included a tour of their headquarters and a demonstration of how search dogs work. The day then concluded with walk which involved the cadets assisting in a casualty simulation. Squadron says farewell to the Wing Commander- 10th October 1008
Wing Commander Roger Moss the Commanding Officer of South & West Yorkshire Wing decided to spend his last night as Wing Commander at the Squadron where he started many years ago. To see picutes of the night click here.


Barnsley Squadron Say's Hello to New Recruits - 14th September 2008
The beginning of September saw the welcoming of a new intake of cadet's to Barnsley Squadon. The cadet's will learn all about the air cadet organisation including about the history of the ATC and the RAF. Cadet's will also how to be safe on expedition and how to communicate on radio. Once they have completed this training the new cadets will have the opportunity to take part in all the activities the cadet's has to offer.


Cadet's A Credit to Barnsley - 148 Squadron Open Night
Open Night 2008The time has come again for the Squadron to host it's annual Open Night where friends, family and distinguished guests are invited to see the Cadets being awarded for their achievements over the past 12 months. To read more and see pictures of the evening click here.


Spring Bank Shenanigan's
Spring Bank CampAs you were probably getting the Barbeque ready for a party over Spring Bank Holiday the cadets of 148 Squadron were of camping and learning how to navigate at the nearby Scout Camp at Silverwood, Silkstone. ."Lets Go Steelers, Lets Go!!"
On Saturday 15th March cadets from Barnsley Squadron were invited to attend a Sheffield Steelers match sponsored by the RAF Careers. The cadets helped out on the night too by providing help at the display stands for the RAF as well as handing out stickers to the crowd. Once the match got started the cadets were able to enjoy the excitement of the game. To find out more read here.


South Yorkshire Police educates the Cadets
As part of the Squadron Training Programme the some of the Cadets of Barnsley Squadron went to visit the South Yorkshire Police Armed Response unit on Friday 7th February. Whilst there the cadets found out more around what is involved in being a Police Officer. Read more about the trip here.


Cadets Set Sail For Valentines Day
On Sunday the 10th of February, Cadets from Barnsley Squadron joined cadets from Barnsley Sea Cadet Corps and Marine Cadet detachment on a trip the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Replenishment Ship Fort Victoria. Whilst there the Cadets had the chance to visit RAF Odiham as well as other exciting activities. Read more about it here.


NCO's Dine Out For Christmas
Once again the NCO's of Barnsley Squadron held a Christmas Dining Night at the Squadron Headquarters. The NCO's once again had the opportunity to wear their 'best bib and tucker' for the evening.
